Just thought I'd wish everyone a happy St. George's day :D

Almost makes me want to burst into a verse of Land of Hope and Glory :D

Seeing as how its also Shakespeare's birthday, here's a bit of Richard II to stir the English soul:

This royal throne of kings, this scepter'd isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
    This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm.
    This England.

Let's go and best some Nazis...

Yes, since i have george as one of my middle names, happy St Georges day. :)

there is talk about making today a bank holiday, but personaly
i feel that the government should move the day of celebration to the saturday before, or after the 23rd. This would allow towns and vilages to join in, without disrupting the buiseness working week.

I think we should have the whole week off to celebrate. We don't get enough bank holidays as it is (though I'm not proposing that we are get as lazy as some southern European counties who seem to have one every other week).

Why on earth not - after all, were supposed to be Europeans after all

Eurpoean holidays are one less than the time off that you get for being an MP - three months off at Xmas

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
