Need advice

Postby Mr Deck » May 7th, '09, 13:21

Hi, I am actually not Mr. Deck as the name says but Miss Deck under my partners account, sadly Mr Deck died suddenly on April 23rd. I am currently trying to sort his belongings and am faced with a huge pile of magic items, as I need £800 deposit for his funeral I wondered if it would be ok for me to sell his items on this forum? Although not knowing the value of the items I have no idea how much to ask :?

Over the next two days I will be creating a list of items I have here, many of which he assured me he had attainted from swapping items here (although perhaps not lol)

Many thanks for your time, take care all, Cara

Hello Cara,
I'm so sorry for your loss. As Mark said, deepest condolences.

With regard to the magic, you are faced with a few small issues - in a nutshell, some items (like DVDs and books) are not usually allowed for sale on this site, but I really think an exception might be made for you. If so, I think this is a very friendly place for you to sell these things, and if you explain the situation and put them all in a new post under the "for sale" area.

I would hope you would get people doing the decent thing and suggesting fair prices. If it's publicised, we can all effectively "moderate" price suggestions and step in if someone were to try it on - does that make sense? Pricing magical items when you are not a magician would be near impossible, because sometimes the tiniest, cheapest looking thing is the secret to an expensive trick.

Again, my sympathies

:(

Very sorry to hear the sad news, if you'd like to just post a list of the items you have in mind, we'll see how it goes.

Thank you all for your replies, I will start producing a list later tonight as I have to find everything in his "filing system" more commonly known as a huge pile of everything stacked randomly against 2 walls.

Take care, Cara

I'm very sorry to read about your loss Cara. Noting his sig, I'm perfectly happy for whatever of my books (or the DVD) he may have to be sold on Talk Magic.

Wow, what a shock (it's been a hell of a month for them already, and we're only a week in). I am very sorry to hear about your partner's passing, Cara.

As Farlsborough said, one good thing about selling stuff here is that the regulars are pretty much all good folk, and won't rip you off.

We can also probably help identify any odd looking bits of magic equipment.

Thank you all for your replies, I will start producing a list later tonight as I have to find everything in his "filing system" more commonly known as a huge pile of everything stacked randomly against 2 walls.

A very common filing system for magic, I believe.
