I'd refuse and demand a nurse does it instead, but that's just me

The best needle experience I've ever had was having a blood test administered by two little old ladies in cardigans. I felt absolutely nothing as they'd been doing several dozen every day for about 40 years each!

Good Luck and get well soon

Remember: Twice daily bed bath requests to the student nurses is a legitimate request and therefore the wife or partner can not complain or raise issue. FACT!

Can you do the pulse stop effect?

"Must... must... call lawyer..."

And watch the consultant blanche.

Seriously, though, sorry to read that you need surgery, and I hope it goes ahead on Monday.

Thanks everyone.

The team here are very good indeed...the food is every cliche' in the book but the people are top notch, makes me feel very confident.

I have been going through the Sponge Ball Toolbox and I must say I am pleasantly surprised. I was never particularly interested in sponge stuff but it does seem to have a certain something that is so visual and surprising, I have the time to practice coming up and my wife is going to get an A4 size mirror for me, they really will not know what to make of me here!

Thankyou everyone for your support, it does help a lot. :D

There's a big picture of Robin Williams grinning and showing everyone his scar after open heart surgery five weeks ago in the Daily Mail. Not that he had surgery in the Daily Mail. Probably a hospital.

Hi Tom, good luck for the op. I would be worried if i were you, the last time i was at the John Radcliffe there was a sign up that said 'Security Dogs Operating In This Hospital' ... here's hoping you get a human surgeon for your operation and not one of these dogs!!!

I'll watch out for that! LOL!

That'll explain why the vending machines have Bonios and Snausages in them!

I was 'told off' by the other half a few years ago when my mum was in hospital as my warped sense of humour kicked in ... i had printed a sign out on the computer that i was going to tape onto the front door of Eastbourne Hospital that read

' FAMILY PLANNING ADVICE - PLEASE USE THE REAR ENTRANCE'

Needless to say the missus banned me from doing it, but it appealed to my humour!

All the best Tom.

Really feel for you man.
I narrowly missed a triple bypass last year - got a couple of stents instead.
A much easier op, but yours is a complete overhaul. You'll feel great once you're recovered.

And watch out for those post-op drugs.
Plavix, ACE-inhibitors etc.... they can make you feel really lousy.
Take it easy with them.

Hi Tom, break a leg and welcome to the club.
I had a triple bypass 5 years ago, nowadays it's not a big deal.

One of the chaps at my canoe club had the op after a heart attack last year; he is now paddling faster than he ever did before. The Joke round the club is that we all need one.
