Yeah...it comes with instructions. With that method you can quite quickly get it less than 2 minutes.

Apparently the Rubik's cube is now sold with instructions on how to do it.
Buy the cube and a copy of 13 Steps to Mentalism instead.

Are you saying that the instructions that come with the cube are similar or equal to Mark's break-down on the DVD and you can solve it under 2 minutes by reading the instructions? You don't even mention if you have seen the DVD?

With the instructions, and purely the instructions, I got it down to 1.30-1.40.

However, that took a long while and way too much free time. If looking for a relatively quick learning of the Rubik's cube, I think Elsdon's offering is brilliant.

I can't associate "brilliant" with "4 out of 10". Should rather be a 9 or a 10?

I know 2 people who have learnt the cube via Elsdon's route, both really enjoyed the process of learning etc that he gave.

I should of stated earlier that I haven't seen his dvd, I was merely going on the opinions of two professional magician's who I know who have suceeded with this dvd.

Gunnarkr. Yes I do own the DVD. I purchased it from Mark himself when it came out after he did a demonstration.

I'm pretty sure a 1984 topical trick would involve a book test.

On the subject of Rubix Rememberd I've learned how to solve a rubix cube and I created a 'solving it blindfolded' type of effect, (thinking with arrogance that no one had thought of it before.)
The only problem is that while solving it blindfolded I seem to be * up before the surprise revelation. This creates what feels like a good ten minutes of excruciating failure. (probably more like four minuets but I haven't timed it, either way it's too long.) Given that I already know how to solve a cube 'blindfolded' is there anything I can gain from buying this effect? Specifically with regards to speeding up my solving time.

@Jean Eugene: No, apart from a few performance points, the dvd will do you no good if you can solve a Rubik's cube already and have read the relevant chapter in Corinda.

Without revealing too much, I will say that I find Mark's method of solving a little more cumbersome than the one I use myself, which is the so-called Petrus method (I learned it for free from a fellow on youtube). I solve a cube in roughly 1.50-1.20 (depending on variations and the occasional mistake). You pay for Mark's tuition, which I suppose is good, but not really necessary with the internet around

The cube is not nearly as hard as its reputation suggests. That is, if you don't have to figure it out yourself...

Actually it's possible to solve the cube genuinely blindfolded, which could be an interesting thing to learn - if I ever have 3 months that I don't know how to spend. It involves a third solving-method, converting moves to numbers and a good deal of mnemonics... and it looks quite frightening.

Yeah, I think I'll stick with cheating.

Some of the variations of moves that he teaches you don't even have to be learned, I learnt his method and then found that some of the 'Inverted' moves could be achieved by doing the other move X times, which is slower, but the times are still reasonable - around 2.5 minutes.

Overall though, this was a great DVD, yet the Cube and Blindfold should have been included in the set, as many methods can be found for free on the net. Overall though another great production from Alakazam.
