Name this trick

Postby oscarno » May 14th, '09, 15:46

Hey all

See I saw this trick the other day, which I've seen once or twice in the past, and to be honest I'd love to learn it but I have NO idea what it's called. I was thinking if there's anyone else in this situation feel free to use this post to find the name to a trick that you may have seen at a convention or something.

Basically it's like an Ambitious Card routine with a signed card (lets say four of clubs), and in one phase the card was bent. Then the deck changes into a sealed, apparently never-before-opened pack (Im fine with that bit, just the next bit raddles my brains). The pack is opened and the deck is taken out and spread out by the spectator. It is in new deck order. But inbetween the 3 and 5 of clubs is the signed 4 of clubs, bent and all.

Can anyone name the trick? Cheers :D OH and PMs are welcome  if you get me.

Anyone else is welcome to ask the name of a trick

Nice to type here again x

if you can work out the deck healing it's self.. you can work out the rest.
alakazam carry something that does most of this.

and then there is Craig Petty's quarentine.

No I mean I can work out how he switched to new deck, but I want to know what trick or gimmick or whatever it is that makes the signed card appear in a new deck... or is it even a new deck? hmmm... sure is a good trick.

Nope. Not that. I was watching Steve Beam do it. And I also found a youtube video which ends with this trick:

My friend went to a lecture and learnt about it. But he's not letting it on. I'd happily buy it if I knew what it was, but I dont want to spend when the description isnt right. Thankyou for your help though

im guessing that Steve has it a book,or in his current lecture notes.
so its unlikely that anybody will tip the method, since it's not ours to tip.

I didnt make his lecture at hcms last week, so i cant say for sure.
either way, Craigs version of this is well worth getting if you want to do this kind of effect. Its available from many dealers, not just w.m.c, who are still down and out at the moment due to technical difficulties.

Apparently Shawn Farquhar has a signed card to sealed deck which is supposed to be amazing.

I wouldnt take that video link you posted too seriously though... that table was a bit too reflective and showed me something that makes it not so good!!

You know now that you mention it I think it was Farquhar. I went to a lecture and he showed us how to do that one where the glass box appears in his hands, and a bit later he did a close up act involving that. Do you know if he's selling it anywhere? Sorry i dont know WHY i said Beam.

thing is, if i wanted to have a signed card appear in a sealed deck, i know more or less exactly how i would do it.
two minutes with a stanley knife, is all it would take.

Just me replying ...

Postby shawnfarquhar » May 15th, '09, 15:14

I don't sell or teach the effect and I hope folks will respect that it is mine for the time being. It will be released in the very near future under the name "Signed, Sealed and Delivered". I will also be releasing my cups routine. For now I would suggest checking out Greg Gleason's theatrical close up DVD's as he has a nice effect that is similar ...

Cheers,

Shawn Farquhar

Ricky Jay has a similar routine, without the bend and the instant change.

I haven't seen Shawn's routine, but if it's half as good as Ricky's it will be worth every penny.

All seriousoness aside. You mean after all the good times we've had you won't share? The laughs we had at the back of the lecture room while the lecturer got rich and we broke even? I now see where your loyalty lies.

Actually I the rumor mill says you may be in my neck of the woods one day. However my source is questionable...and about that I do have a bone to pick with you. I'll email you about it sometime, however I'm off to California in a couple of days.
