I'm not convinced. Mornington Crescent was devised in the late seventies. It's possible that Mornington Crescent evolved from Finchley Court though. I sniff a Douglas Adams (Cambridge in the 70s), via Geoffrey Perkins (producer of Hitchhiker's and I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue) connection. Sadly hard to follow up, though.
