[Solved] Glue for cards - which to buy please?

Postby Wishmaster » Jun 13th, '09, 23:22

Hi all,

I have searched the forum for various different wordings of this question and found nothing. Honest.

I need to glue a few cards back to back. I'll be using bikes and want something that will stick them properly (especially at the edges), but won't warp them. I have a normal and a "Power" pritt stick but wondered if there's anything better? I think the Power pritt will probably be ok, but I don't have enough spare cards to experiment with at the moment.

Thanks,
Wishmaster

if cards4magic.co.uk still sell them - try the changin' glue pens...the fine tipped ones...

you can be very accurate with the placement of glue that way, and they've never warped for me, at least...

I'm sure you know the rule, but just in case - if you glue things together with this product straight away, it'll bond permanently...if you let it air-dry, it'll bond like post-it note glue...

Cheers Iain, they do have them. I didn't know about the way this glue bonds, so thanks for the tip. That'll make things easier :D

just get some 3m repositioning spray, you can get it from your local hobycraft shop.

Cheers Tony, I'd never heard of the stuff before. After having a look online it seems to be very similar to spray mount.

Glue for Cards

Postby Allen Tipton » Jun 16th, '09, 11:18

Roy Johnson always recommended
Evo Stick

But when applied it does smell somewhat. Put a clothes peg on your nose! :D
Smell fades after drying.

I've glued cards together using a Power Pritt Stick and it works just fine. Just make sure you apply the glue right to the edge of one card and press the other card against it; don't go too mad with it but any excess can be easily wiped off by running your finger along the edge of the cards. Place the cards between two heavy books to dry. No warping, at least in my experience.

Not for this effect. I just need two double faces and thought I'd do it myself rather than buy something ready made. I'm becoming a cheapskate :D

for quickness, double sided tape.if any goes over the edge, you can trim it off. :)

Oh, I might try it then. I used it on the envelopes I modified for the effect and the result wasn't up to much. The normal Pritt Stick wasn't quite strong enough, but left the envelope looking erm normal. The Power Pritt Stick was much better for adhesion, but warped the paper badly no matter how careful I was. That's why I was twitchy about trying it on the cards.

I was worried that something like tape might leave the cards too thick and obvious looking.

sticking 2 cards together without stripping, already thickens the card.are you after twin faced cards, or DF cards?

just remembered. use a tape pen, ( available from tescos, and tons of other places).
this is double side tape, without the tape, and works like a charm.

Double backed, it's easier. Having tried stripping ( ) before, they didn't look right and I ended up spending hours getting nowhere fast. But, that's more to do with my amateur attempts than anything else I guess :D
