Quiche!

Postby Replicant » Jun 17th, '09, 18:40

"Can be served hot or cold".

Does that mean I have to cook it in the oven first? Or can it be eaten cold without cooking? I'm confused and a quick search on Google has not helped. Any quiche lovers on here?

ROFL!

If it says that, it means you can rip the box open and gorge yourself immediately and without fear of catching summat that'll make your insides fall out. :D

I hate quiche. They should be banned. Disgusting drool with sloppy onions, in pastry. Yuck!

Enjoy

I don't usually start threads on such inane subjects, but for such a simple question I could not find the answer anywhere, and no one I have texted (yes, I texted people about it!) seemed to know the answer. The instructions on the box are very ambiguous and appear to skirt the issue. Perhaps I am just thick.

I love drool with sloppy onions in pastry. Delicious. :D

Here's my answer: bin the quiche and order a pizza like any self-respecting man. They fulfil the same criteria (a little bit of everything in one dish, finger food, can be eaten hot or cold) without emasculating you in the process

Nah, my real answer is: it should be in the wording. Providing there are instructions on there to make it hot, does it say "to cook" or "to heat"?

And if it's frozen and doesn't give you any other instructions than cooking from frozen, you have to cook it.

Most of these things are fully cooked but not "finished", i.e. there is nothing raw inside and you could eat it immediately, but really it's intended to be browned off in the oven. If when you look at it the filling has a nice baked looking top, fine, just re-heat it in the oven or microwave. If it looks anaemic and pasty, best crisp it up a bit.

I make them regularly (or as some around here refer to them "Quickies") and if you plan on consuming them prior to baking, you may want to get a good food processor and perhaps some air sickness bags... just understand that what comes back up might look the same as what went down, but I don't advise placing it into pie shells and baking

Hehe, I can just imagine Replicant sat watching telly, sucking on his frozen quiche, wondering why it takes so long to eat! :D

What the hell is "proper quiche"? All quiche is minging and anyone who likes the stuff needs to have their bumps felt. Jelly-like cheesy eggy stuff with bits of floppy onion and other unidentified green bits dribbling out when you cut into the crust. I feel sick just thinking about it. You people are seriously deranged :P

Aren't you glad you posted Replicant? You'll never live this one down, you know.

take the doctor's advice...

quiche - not to be ingested...

eggy, smelly, revolting mess of a thing...only the middle classes and women truly enjoy them..."ooooh a nice bit of quiche and some salad please...ooh a glass of rose? yes please..."

come the revolution, those people will be minced up and put into pies or used as pizza toppings..

I'm not keen on quiche...

Quiche, like bakery sausage rolls, should be eaten COLD not warm, soggy and gelatinous. :?

Anyway, real men hunt, kill and skin their own quiche and eat it at body temp within 5 mins. Fresh from the wild fenland (urban quiche, although becoming more prevalent, taste sooty and stale :( )

Just my opinion, but then again, I tend to stick to meat, much easier to deal with, if an animal moves - kill it and eat it, if it doesn't move - kick it 'till it does.

Only joking, no offence meant to all the animal lovers out there.

oh no no no no NO!

how dare you eat a bakery sausage roll cold?! that defeats the whole object of getting them from the bakery!

muskets at dawn sir...

they must be hot, and eaten on a cold morning or on the way back home from work before going to the pub during the winter...

Rule of thumb

Turn in upside down, if the contents falls out its not edible.
