I'd let the spider eat the fly, then build an arena and tell it that it had to earn it's release by defeating the most fearsome insects ever to roam my garden.

Flies are yucky, horrible, dirty things so the spider's more than welcome to what she's caught.

EU Fishing Quotas force fishermen to throw half of what they've caught back into the sea. As a result I would insist the spider throws half of the fly back into the ....errr....air.
