Yes I'm certainly trying to divert my train of thought from being like that of a magician's. Nowadays even while performing close-up magic, I tend to be slow and involve more people. I've already seen significant improvements in audience co-operation, and hence audiene reactions.

I had pretty much everything planned out and setup, including all presentations and scripts, written down, as Eugene always suggests.
The only part left was to thread together some effects. The rest, I leave it to my personality, to interact with spectators in real time. I usually avoid memorized jokes/one liners and let them flow naturally from me. It makes my presentation much more efficient and people can see that what I'm saying is quite genuine

I would suggest, humbly, that this is probably the most important part of any routine and should be one of the FIRST things you think about, not the last!
