Blogging tools - recommendations?

Postby pcwells » Jul 6th, '09, 13:45

Hi all,

I've got it into my head that it might be fun to do a daily blog during my time at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Never having blogged before, I'm at a loss regarding the best services out there. All I know is that I want something self-contained that can be added as a link to my existing website (rather than a MySpace blog or suchlike).

And if there's any service out there that will allow me to add entries using my smartphone, so much the better.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Pete

I've used Wordpress to good effect in the past, however if you're going to be spending time doing shorter posts that are up to the minute instead of paragraphs and galleries of images, then Twitter is where you need to point people...

I think I'd rather carve out time to write something decent than condense everything into twitter soundbites.

Looked at Wordpress, and it seems good.

Looks like I might be packing my laptop for the trip to Auld Reekie!

You could do it like darren and myself do with the south shields write ups.

we create a thread on Bunny, and a couple of times a day post there. then afterwards, we sort them out and post elsewhere.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

I've used Wordpress for around 18mths and can't fault it. There are also some free Windows clients available that you can use offline to write up your text, then send it to your blog later.

Agreed whole heartedly with Wordpress, you don't even need to host it yourself if you don't want to. And posts can be kept private until ready for posting if you want
