He is a cheeky scamp. Next weeks show looks like it will be as equally entertaining. (in case any journalists are reading this, I can reveal his actual method: wolves did it)

I am 99.9999999999999999999999% certain that was not the real solution but to care would miss the point.

It was not an anti-climax (for me anyway). That was just plain excellent and I was really concerned tonight would be a big let down.

Can't wait for the stuck to your seat thing next week!!

That's an hour of my life I won't get back. It was more productive reading about Penney's Game on Wikipedia and wondering why the C4 example of HTH = HHH but the wiki example of HTH = HHT.

He was right. It was a trick and I do feel tricked. Now let's see what the other DB is going to do.

So... Split screen then! :)

Incidentally, I've spent many years working with digital video editing stuff, and I have to say that the 'camera shake' during the lottery draw looked very much like a video filter to me - meaning the camera was locked off, but the vision mixer caused the recorded image to move within the frame. If you look again, it's very two-dimensional. There's no roll or yaw...

Yes, I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I'm certain that's how he did it... :P

I agree. And watching back, I was a bit surprised he didn't reveal it, as there was scope for that to actually be entertaining. Especially if Teller was setting the balls.

I think there's a lot to be said for the theory that everything up to the throw over to the second camera being prerecorded, and the rest being on a locked off tripod makes perfect sense, and the wave is a very strong motivation for the edit. </mediadegree>

I'm truly sorry, but my Beethoven habit got the better of me and when I finally tuned in after a huge hit of euphoria he was spouting utter nonsense.

QI's good tonight, though. :D

Mmmmmm....

Mouse under polystyrene cup - the mouse would have moved the cup at some point right?

Illegal machine fix? He really would not risk that imho.

Anyway, THE WISDOM OF CROWDS certainly would apply with something like the weight of a cow because some would underestimate and some would overestimate, hence the average would work.

But lottery numbers are completely random regardless of previous selections and so the same rule does not apply. I don't think the group of 24 were actors but that whoever was responsible for the adding up was in on it. Even if you as one of the 24 chose 1 1 1 1 1 1, you would not be surprised if the collective numbers were, say, 24 33 12 39 23 45 and so false additions would not arouse suspicion. Poor buggers.

Also he proved with the coins thing that emotional will-power is nonsense - it was a maths trick - and yet he then tried to say that was how the lottery prediction worked?!

Split screen it is then. On my TV, which can be a bit blocky, the black shadow noticably shifts at the given point.

Did you notice how he read through some of the more outlandish theories first and then added split-screen at the end as if it was equally outlandish? I reckon the guy who didn't push the last ball down properly is now living out the tramp outfit we saw in next week's trailer for real.

Still, Derren, we love ya!

Yeah - Magicalsmithy - get your friends together, close your eyes and let that pen just drift.

Give us a percentage of your millions though, eh?

They live on the scary estate, I can't remember what they look like, I don't wanna talk about it anymore. That took all my lunch money too, I didn't spend it on penny sweets, honest. :(
