Cups, Balls, Loads.

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

My favourite routine is David Regal's My Best Friend chop cup routine, where he uses a little toy mouse and a lump of cheese. The final load is a whole cup crammed full of mice, and it's very funny. I'm sure it could be easily adapted to be done as a cups and balls routine instead.

Ive seen a final load of sand! think it was an alternate ending on one of Al Shneiders dvds (which is always the cups and ball routine i use)

I've finally worked out what should be my final load, now all I have to do is work out how to make it happen.

The chap that used to mentor me back many years ago used to produce a high ball type glass (with ice), a mini bottle of scotch, and an uncapped bottle of ginger ale. He then used to pout the scotch and ginger into the glass and keep it close at hand throughout the rest of his 'spot'.

It was amazing to see the faces of specs when the final loads were shown.

I also recall him producing a short wine glass containing water and goldfish.

I still don't know how he used to get away without spilling anything.

My favourite actually comes from a chap I'm working with at the moment.

He went through a Chop cup routine, and at the end of it produced...

...a huge amount of raw pork chops, for some reason.

You'll have to trust me when I say that would make an awful lot more sense if you ever saw him perform.

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

The other night I thought it would be pretty funny to use tunnocks tea cake wrappers as balls, then produce the tea cakes at the end...

Didn't seem that funny afterwards, but the idea amused me for a while...

A TON of sponge balls! I can imagine them spilling out of the cup, and people frantically trying to force them back in!!!

How about a final load of a slightly smaller identical cup, under that a slightly smaller one again, then another smaller one. Keep going until under the last cup is an atom!

i once saw a magician produce chicks baby yellow chic live ones also there are some versions of cups and balls where instead of a final load you show the cups to be solid no inside just a solid chunk of wood carved as a cup also there are rarer glass versions clear glass

His first name escapes me, but it was something Gali Gali who did the chick ending. On Pen and Tellers Magic and Mystery Tour they met Gali Galis grandson who is also a magician, and he still has his grandfathers original cups :)

Ps, it may have been Luxor Gali Gali

Producing live chicks at the end of cups and balls is the staple effect of the Egyptian gali-gali street magicians and the solid wood 'cup' effect can be bought from Five of Hearts Magic.
