Kanye does what he does best...

Kanye west has made a fool of himself by interrupting a 19 year olds acceptance speech at the MTV awards because he thought that Beyonce should have won it. I know most people won't really care about this, I just wanted an excuse to post a link to South Park's Gay Fish song:

If you want to see Kanye being a douche: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8253909.stm

So the bad guy gets air time for sounding like a bad guy, the established celebrity for being protective and self assured, the new girl for being a poor little thingy rescued by the crowd and oh so lovable.

Basically pretty much in character all round, everybody wins, and it even gets the show additional coverage.

Or is it me just being cynical?

It could be cynicism but there always appears to be some kind of controversy at the MTV awards.

As I said before, this thread is just a flimsy pretext for me posting a link to Gay Fish.

Further proof that Kanye West is without a doubt one of the biggest asses in popular music. He actually thinks he's the greatest musician of this generation. Unbelievable.

You'd have to stop and think about the way you were living your life if the President publicly (although off the record) calls you a jackass.

This is why you shouldn't snort cocaine, kids. It makes you think Beyonce videos are art, not the sub-prime musical porno for frustrated 13-year-olds they so obviously are.

Oops, did I type that out loud. What am I like?

you know what else i find wierd? that in america they were after rock n roll and in the 70s, metal for being the music of the devil...

yet, nowadays you can hear 8 year old girls at bus-stops sing that "they kissed a girl, and they liked it"...very bizarre...

and as for the pussycat dolls...dont get me started...

Whatever people find offensive tends to diminish or die over time- just look at Marilyn Manson. When he first realeased an album it was mentioned in the House of Commons and people wanted to ban it. Now you can buy his albums anywhere and they barely get a mention in the press. The fact that he writes crappy soft rock songs and sings about his broken relationships like a whiney little emo kid probably has something to do with it too though!

The first time I saw Marilyn Manson I laughed. This, however, is the real deal (uncut and definitely not safe for work): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0knFHyDD150 They couldn't get a gig outside That London after this.

I'm quite against the sex pistols...for too many reasons...

my main one is, as soon as you sign for a major record label - you are no longer punk...you're doing it for the money...

and they were the first ever boy-band...

...and promptly getting thrown off the major record label again. Punk wasn't anti-capitalist. Anything but. That came later with the rise of the ridiculous anarcho-punk movement. Punk was originally about pointing out the smell from all the elephant sh*t in the room that politicians and "the machine" had made.

Don't pay any attention to what Malcolm McLaren says about deliberately constructing the Pistols. The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle was made after the fact to try to glorify his role. He's made a career out of lies. The core of the Pistols was already there way before he ever appeared. He was actually quite an incompetent manager. His next big project was the entirely inoffensive Bow Wow Wow, for crying out loud!

I wouldn't say the Pistols were the first boy band, or that they were in it for the money - there was a whiff of insincerity about it all, but The Clash were far more commercial than they were, and far more commercial-minded. The same could be said of The Dead Kennedys.

they even hijacked the name from the original garage punk bands from 60s...punk i mean, not the sex pistols...

though, i am grateful for them for killing off bands like Yes... :D
