I can imagine you walking out to silence and marching up to the front of the stage, then deadpanning: "My name is Dale Shrimpton and this is a show about magic..." like a Reservoir Dog.

Always loved Meades. If you're going to talk about architecture, you can walk around churchyards talking to camera, or you can stand in a cul de sac holding out a severed arm. Which is going to be more compelling to watch?

His attack on vegetarianism is very funny if you can track it down.

Meades did a wonderful series about Gothic architecture last year. Did you know that across Europe in the Middle Ages, at the line where vines end and hops begin, Gothic architecture also begins. Worth knowing if you're invoking the spirits of the long dead in your act.

The BBC4 interview with him is also good. He went to RADA, which he described as "Boot camp for chorus boys".
