Me too. Another great performance from Robert Preston.

Speaking of whom - look out for Rehearsal for Murder, which pops up every now and again on one of the free movie channels on Sky.

I Own the costume Preston wore in the closing number of Victor/Victoria.

the shady dame.
trivia..

The Spanish dress, which he wore, is also the same dress that Julie Andrews wore earlier on in the film. It was made with a secret panel in the back, that allowed for expansion.
the number was shot once, and the dress was dammaged during the number. Its this dammage that provided the proof that it is the dress.

and yes, i have worn it on stage, and have the evidence on a very funny video.

Not technically a movie but Firefly deserves a mention (the first episode was cerainly movie length) and it was so good that I don't think anyone who hasn't seen it has a right to express their veiws on anything. Seriously before I consult a doctor on how to treat the cancer I will inevitability get, I will ask if he's seen Firefly, and if he hasn't I will know him for the idiot he is and ignore his advice, recomend his disbarment and key his car.

True romance is also highly underrated, but if you haven't seen that I will still be able to respect your opinion however I will have to slap you.

Mary Poppins while well known and popular is still underrated in my book.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

Arlington Road. I've not met many people who think much of it, but I have a natural inclination to like Jeff Bridges in anything, and I think the whole idea made for very good watching.

I tell you one film that is seroiusly under rated.
George palls masterpiece "The Seven Faces Of Dr. Lao".

This film, if you havent seen it, is about a small western town , which is visited by the magical circus of Dr Lao. Superbly played by Tony Randal.

He in various stunning make ups, created by cinematic wizard William Tuttle, plays Dr. Lao / Merlin / Pan / Abominable Snowman / Medusa / Giant Serpent / Apollonius of Tyana /and an Audience member.
Towards the end of this amazing film, each of the characters find themselves becoming a head on the loch ness monster.

It has something for everyone, and is for me, one of the major influences that guided me towards becoming a magician.

this film is a pure delight. When we first meet merlin, he is discovered on a carny stage, performing magic. And, quite a few of the effects performed are performed live. The magical advisor for this film was George Boston, who's other well known magical movie, was the Tony Curtis Houdini.
If you have not seen this movie, i urge you to see it.Though, its really hard to find on dvd, as it has never been released outside the U.S.

Excellent film and a tour de force by Tony Randall (who can be seen briefly as himself in the circus scene). It comes up occasionally on one of the Sky channels - TCM?

Thirded.

Absolutely love it.

I want a Loch Ness Monster of my very own. They seem very easy to keep, and have fewer 'rules' than Moguai...

The Iron Giant
Very different to the book, but all the better for it. A brilliant animated feature.

Powerpuff Girls - The Movie
Yes, really! The game of tag alone is enough to make it a classic, but the movie is just jam-packed with great gags and creative lunacy.

I simply can't let the list continue without...

Donnie Darko (I think mentioned in another such list on here)

AND

Something Wicked This Way Comes.

I've never thought of Donnie Darko as being underrated. I thought it was very well received.

But Something Wicked This Way Comes was great. And oddly so, as Ray Bradbury has a bad habit of destroying his own stories when he's let loose to write the movie screenplays (and I'm a big fan of Ray Bradbury). In this case, he simplified the whole shebang and - in my view - improved on the original novel. Come to think of it, it did bear more than a passing resemblence to Dr Lao...

I in fact plan to look up Dr. Lao because of this list :)

As for well received I'd call it more of a cult classic it wasn't very popular in the main stream and the vast majority of people I talk to still have never heard of it.

Momento was more well known in the states than Darko.
