TOUCHED Gary Jones & Chris Congreave

Postby daleshrimpton » Nov 10th, '09, 15:59

The Effect

Touched.

Chris Congreave, and Gary Jones

The spectator chooses a colour of a card, and the magician removes a card of the opposite colour.

He shows this card, which is say, the ace of diamonds.
He writes on the face of this card, a prediction.
The spectator now has a totally free choice of any card in his chosen colour.. In this case, black.

This chosen card is displayed.

The magician turns over his card, and written across the face is the name of the spectators freely chosen card.

Cost
£15.00

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

I would say 2. See bellow.

Review

What you receive…

A DVD which contains full instructions for both this, and a second effect, a card to wallet, that utilises the principle involved.

A special deck of cards that does all the work for you.
overall

It’s very easy to learn, and requires the most basic of slights. Indeed, it only uses one move performed twice. Despite its easy method, it fooled me enough to buy it, and these days I don’t often buy stuff, least of all card tricks. This should tell you, it’s good!

One thought I had, was if you happened to be a more advanced card guy, there is ample opportunity to add say a top change, and make the effect even stronger.

available from Darren at the magic attic….

Personally, that is just way too complicated for me. I like things clear and precise.

It does sound a bit confusing but when you see a live performance its very direct and simple to follow.

Easy to do and very workable, as are all of Gary and Chris's effects.

Ah, see what you mean. That opens a HUGE can of worms........ is ID mentalism or mental magic?

To be honest, as long as it's commercial, entertaining and a fooler who cares? I have used this at my gigs for ages and it is a killer IMO.

But I am slightly biased.

yeah, of course...its all down to presentation isnt it...

I'm sure it is a worker, i was just saying that for me, its more mental-magic than straight mentalism...thats not a criticism, just my opinion :)
