I just had a swift visit to our local 'The Works' bookshop and noticed that they're now selling 100 Magic Tricks by Ian Adair for £3.00. I bought this last year in Poole from a different bookstore chain and it's good value.

I'll do a proper review on Monday if anyone wants one but, if you're out shopping with three quid to spare, I suggest you invest! It's a sort of less bulky Nicolas Einhorn type of book but the photos are large and clear, lots of card tricks, certainly some rope items including cut & restored and Professor's Nightmare. Bargain stuff!

PS Have a look at http://www.the-magic-store.info/shop/product.asp?sp=619 - the cover is different but the title and contents seem very similar. And look at the price!

Things like this annoy me I spend God knows how much money and time on Fulves, Hugard, Brauer, emagictricks etc etc when everything is found in a £3 book at the Works.

Not that I'm bitter...

I've developed a really bad 'must go grabbit' attitude in the last 12 months. I have a fair quantity of magic books and they are all worthwhile investments but prices such as this and Nick's book (see http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/viewtopic.ph ... ht=einhorn )are real bargains. I've reached the stage where, if the price is low and the content/quality looks good, then I'll buy it and see if I really wanted it afterwards. Probably a bit sad on my part but I've yet to be disappointed.

Many of the tricks are repeated in a lot of the books but they each provide a different angle to a basic theme and, if all else fails, they can be traded, sold or handed on as appropriate. And they make great Christmas Pressies from younger annoyances!

PS - even sadderer than all the above, there are three local organisations who regularly hold Jumble Sales, Book Fayres and so on, all charged with checking their stock and phoning me if they see any magic books!
