Andy Nyman - Lecture notes

Postby Cliff » May 26th, '04, 09:32

It has taken me a while to discover Andy Nyman () but over the last few weeks i have bought Diceman, the Hidden and Killer Elite. I am VERY happy withese effects and am now in thesearch of more of his material. I have seen he has some lecture notes available - "Short, Punchy and Mental", "Kosher Lecture Notes" and "Fight Dirty".

Do any of you have these? Is this the same materiala as on the "Get Nyman" DVD?

Should i just give in and buy the lot?

Thanks in advance for any help

Hang on, I'll do a review of short punchy and mental for you.

I've got all three sets of lecture notes.

Largely, they cover the same material as the "Get Nyman" DVD, but of course sometimes things are easier to explain in print, while others benefit from being seen in a performance. I think "Dead of Night" is easier to follow from the notes, for example.

One of them (I think it's "Kosher Lecture Notes", but I am not sure) tips some other effects, including "Killer Elite". Interestingly enough, Andy didn't use his own tips on the DVD, but maybe he's got it down pat now and doesn't need them.

I'd recommend all three (obviously only if you are interested in mentalism). There is a big overlap with his DVD so I couldn't say whether the extra items would be worth it (depends on the person). There are two billet reading items which are not on the DVD: The MOB Billet Routine in SP&M, and Con Air in KP. Both excellent.

And for all Andy Nyman fans, remember he will be at the annual Ipswich Magical Society Convention this year. (Sunday November the 7th), where he will be giving a lecture, performing a close up session in the afternoon, and then performing in the evening show.

I haven't added the "convention" page yet - but I am working on it.

Hopefully I will see some of you there. (I know I know, its a long way off)
