Talking of Saturday Night.... don't you miss the great family Saturday's TV schedules of the 1980s??

Depending on schedules you'd have (across two channels pretty much - there was usually an opera on BBC2!):

The A Team, Doctor Who, The Two Ronnies, Paul Daniels, Juliet Bravo, The Generation Game, Starsky and Hutch, Match of The Day and - if you were really lucky and allowed to stay up late - A Hammer Horror film to round things off!!

I'm getting all misty-eyed just thinking about it.

The british press, have this appetite for ruining sucess. They hate it.

Not at all Dale I dont really read the papers or watch him on the tele I used to as a kid, and didnt like the style then and I dont now. Yes he inspired a generation of kids to become Magicians and cashed in with magic sets etc. But he's scary!

I agree totally. As a 10 year old I was in love with Starsky & Hutch (I blame it on the hormones flying around my pre-teenage body at the time). And when I eventually got an old portable B&W TV with a dodgy aerial in my room, I used to love watching 1950's sci-fi films and Hammer horror films on Saturday night. The Twilight Zone and/or Outer Limits might be on too. Wonderful.

And during the 6 weeks summer holidays there'd be either Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers (1930's originals), or Star Trek on every morning. And Tin Tin too.

It's TV like this that made me the man I am today. :?

You obviously don't have Simon Baker's sex appeal!

I think Paul Daniels is great. Paul and Debbie are constantly poking fun at themselves and this is just another example of this.

I genuinely appreciate Mr Daniels talent and hope I am still having as much fun as him and his wife seem to be when I am that age!

People like David Blaine are far more detrimental to magic than Daniels. Most of my non-magic friends know Blaine as "that d**k who acted all weird on GMTV" (eloquent people my friends). Although arguably some do think Daniels is a bit creepy. :)
