Hear hear!! A great case in point is 'Hemispheres' by Jay Sankey.. a DVD that served me with a very limited number of routines BUT did provide one absolute belting, foolproof way of forcing a newspaper in a totally hands off way.

Of course, on the DVD the method wasn't used to force a newspaper (it was actually used to force a word from a magazine) - but, do you know what I did.....? I played with the method for a while and then, when I needed to force a newspaper out of the dozens that are available every day, I simply revisited the method and modified so it fitted right in! Who'd have thought it, eh?

That's the point!!!! We aren't here to tell you what to do/ not to do. We're here to provide ideas. We're a think tank if you will. Only you know what to include in your act so it is tailored to suit your style/ personality etc. etc.

I'm not saying you should do a newspaper prediction - was just echoing cymru's sentiments that a bit of study and adaptation can go a long way.

Agreed, it certainly helps. During my purchase of Devin Knights Glass Box Prediction System I found a brilliant way of getting an apparantly random person up on stage, but who was in fact a stooge. This may help me in the future, if I ever wish to use a stooge.

The problem is I know what I want... it kind of constrains my options. :/
I am trying to find a way to think of making someone say a series of numbers, or the name of a random books/film that I want... but I have no idea how, so I ask people here on TM as a starting point :P

That kind of thinking is exactly your problem - Knowing what you want doesn't constrain your options. It empowers you to go out and find ways to achieve what you want.

Start at the ending point and then work out the different ways to get there, discount the impossible or implausible and modify what you've got left.

I can think of numerous ways to get someone to say a 'random' series of numbers that you then relate to...

stooges, dual reality, switches, nw...

and that's without even thinking about it!

Check the date the account was created, check the number of videos made....

;)

stooges, dual reality, switches, nw...

None of these can be used: because you cannot nw a serial number, and you cannot use a stooge or pre-show on a randomly selected person. :s

Because serial numbers are:

1. Printed

2. Blue

3. Six digits in length

Its hard to think of anything harder to nw, I'm not going to say its IMPOSSIBLE... but it would take hours of work and an expert painter. The alternative is just to nail write a 6 digit number, and thats NOT the serial number...

It's very possible, Thomas Wade Fraser, to accomplish the effect you are after - my method was published in Peter Duffie's "Mind Blasters II" if you're interested in checking it out.

Before you do so I should say that I designed it as a close-up effect, and only ever perform it as such - not too sure how well it would translate to the stage.

The method is a healthy balance of sleights (not quite) and psychology so it might not be to your taste, but the effect is that your Participant somehow knows the serial number of the note they've been holding onto the entire time.

So as written it might not be for you, but it might give you some ideas... or you might find one of the many other effects in the book to be to your liking! At the very least know that what you are after can be accomplished.
