The tribute to Wayne Dobson included his famous vent routine with 'Arry and Frank. RIP 'Arry, one of the few sports commentators who didn't irritate the non-sports fans.

Harry was a legend and as soon as I heard the news I also thought of Wayne Dobson's routine at the Palladium.

A classic

Immediately made me think of the legendary interviews with Frank Bruno. :)
Carpenter was one of the 'old school' of presenters who really knew his subject and rarely lapsed into hackneyed cliche.

'Arry stoked my love for boxing as I was growing up - it's never been the same without his commentary.

He was never afraid to let his emotions get the better of him, either. Who can forget his classic lapse during the Bruno/Tyson fight...? During the first round after almost being floored by Tyson, Bruno somehow managed to land a clumping blow on Tyson, who looked decidedly wobbly.

Cue Harry:

"Now he's hurt Tyson - GO ON FRANK!"

Wonderful stuff.... will be sadly missed.
