I know most of you will probably now label me a brute, but I wondered if anyone on here watches/is interested in UFC/Mixed martial arts.

I used to do MMA myself, and it is a great discipline, helped me get pretty healthy and turn improve my self esteem.

Im not a fan of football at all, and UFC is my subsitute in a way, so i just wondered if any of you share my interest :)

Yup. I have every single UFC event, well the mainstream ones recorded. Right from UFC 1 when headbutting and stamping was legal! ;)

Shogun Rua's headstamps are insane!

Rather looking forward to the Shogun vs Lyoto rematch, and definitely looking forward to Silva vs St Pierre, both fights should be insane!

I also want to see Carwin take out Lesner, as i do believe he is the one and only man who can!

"I didn't tap"...jeez I hate Lesnar.

The rules have become too strict though...I saw a fight recently where it was stopped because the fighter broke his little finger...
In UFC 2 or 3 someone cracked their eye socket in the first round and kept going for 3 rounds. Stoppages are way too soon for me...but then I'm just a sadist perhaps!

Naw i agree. In Pride a while back, quite a while back actually, do you remember Rampage dropping some chinese guy on his neck with a vicious slam?

It was quite a big deal at the time because the guy fractured his neck.

So much has changed since the good old days, when UFC actually was the Ultimate Fighting Championship and not the 'lets try not to hurt each other too much so we can make more money out of the next fight' championship.

Not sure if this is applicable as I've never watched a full UFC match in my life but............

By following Bas Rutten's MMA Workout CDs, I've managed to lose almost 4 stones (around 50 lbs) since November last year.

I'm still very much in the 'before' category but, with Bas' help, I hope to be fighting fit very soon!!

So, I'd agree with the OP - it's a great way to start getting in shape. Literally it's been 30 minutes a day and just being sensible about what I eat.

Anyway - just thought that might fit in with the thread!!!

Well like i said the discipline of it got me into healthy shape too!

At one point i was running 4 miles a day and going to the gym for about 2 hours every other day, it becomes rather addictive after a while.

Then i tore the tendon in my left ankle and since that incident i have become a lazy, unhealthy computer addict again.

Kind of ironic really :)
