Sally Morgan. She once told Bez from Happy Mondays: "I see lots of policemen around you". Well, durrrrrrr.

What is it they say? The butcher with the warmest heart wields the sharpest knife? That was nasty, but a good thing.

All anyone needs to do is to sell them what they buy. If you're real, then at least have the common decency to be real.

250 customers at £10 each, nice money if you can get it - especially for old rope like that. Both Derren and Richard Wiseman seemd to be doing their utmost to be fair but Joe was just obnoxious. How can anyone seriously claim that Derren said he hadn't been in the house when his statement that he had was on film and therefore easily checked? Sounds like Joe doesn't like being questioned - in case he's wrong. He just gives mediums a bad name...

I'd like to say, 'Joe will be lucky to earn that kind of money now!' but i know i'd be wrong.

People will just blindly believe whatever makes them feel good and to hell with the facts.

I found Joe an absolutely repulsive individual. Self-righteous, blinkered, blame-shifting prick of the highest order. I hope that programme ruins him.

"So it's 5 wth the parents and the dog? See I was right."

At least he was consistent, by which I mean he gave the same info at every show, and even after the programme had finished recording, he satyed indignant to the end.

"Really? My sister lives next door to the woman we filmed me being amazingly accurate to? I did not know that at all."

How psychic can you be if you don't know that about your own sister?

Just managed to catch it on C4+1 and found it highly amusing.

I'm getting a number... a number 2 is what I thought of Joe as a person.

I don't think Derren really had to say much at all as Joe seemed to ruin himself through paranoia. You are only that defensive when you are scared of being found out.

I really liked his phrase "I can look you in the eye and tell you 100% that I am not lying". I was convinced he was lying by his constant eye contact until he said that, then I wasn't so sure if he was giving it away through his body language. I wonder if he said it as he twigged that Derren might be looking for it.

The feedback in mediumship circles seems to be that Joe was a fake or at the very least let himself down with his attitude, but there are better mediums out there who would have given a better account of themselves and mediumship.

Please note, this isn't my personal opinion. It's just the rumblings on the drums of mediumship.

At least one medium has challenged DB to test him. It's easy publicity, and of course there's no such thing as bad publicity. Joe Power will be inundated with bookings and messages of support tomorrow morning.

For those that believe, no proof etc etc.

Personally the more mediums I see, the more they start to really annoy me. Are they all fake?

The guy just made me laugh. I'm suprised that no one picked up on the fact that he seemed to have to go to the loo as soon as he got in the clients' house. Aside from that seeming very unprofessional, he got to visit that treasure trove of personal information that is the bathroom. It wouldn't have suprised me if he hadn't had a little peek in the other rooms too.

His attitude was terible too, rude to his audience and very confrontational towards Derren. Which matches my experience of fake mediums when challenged. Instead of offering some semi plausable explaination why Derren's proposed scientific test wouldn't work such as he needs so see the person he's reading for so that he can see auras or sense energies h just came out with some utter rubbish, drivle.

What was that he said when one of his audience members said they couldn't think? Something like "Well i can think love..."

I'd have asked for my ten quid back at that moment.

Here is my attempt at a Joe Power reading...

"I'm getting a Jimmy.....or James.........no? Something else coming through now.....a Paul.....or Pauline......no? Really? It's your fault, you must have brushed past a skeptic today."

I have a friend who is VERY convinced of the abilities of psychics and mediums. She really digs her heels in during discussions and i can't help but admire her for holding on to her beliefs in such a determined fashion.

I sent her a text after the show, as i had requested she watch it, and asked her what she thought. Amazingly, and unless you know the girl it's hard to get across just how amazing these words were from her, she said she wasn't sure what to believe now. This is from someone who's argued (calmly discussed giving each other room to express ideas and opinions) with me for hours over exactly this kind of thing.

I appreciate what Paul said, in the sense that for those that want to believe, absolutely nothing will persuade them otherwise, but i wonder how many others are questioning this business now.

The thing to realise as well is that Joe Power is fairly normal for a medium. I've seen a lot worse and one or two better, but he more or less represents the average. Joe Power is about as good as it usually gets.
