Has anyone tried this? It recieved some great reviews on the cafe, but experiance has taught me that reviews there depend more on the creators reputation than the product itself.

The advert sounds great, and I'm thinking of getting all three cards, but I suspect that theres something fishy about the ads. Anyone have these? I'd love to hear some opinions from talkmagic :)

i've not got Animania but i have the rest...

if you go back to the cafe and read the posts (mainly from the guys you keep falling out with) - you'll get an idea of what they are like...

HOWEVER!

with that said Eshy old pal - i think you may need to be honest with yourself, and have a good long think about whether they might suit you - you know how you are with method and so forth...

there's an inherent difference between an effect that is good within itself - and an effect that is good for you...

there's plenty out there that are good, but i dont buy cos i know it wouldnt suit me or go in the direction that i want to go...so i don't buy it...

the choice...is yours!

Well Iain, it depends what you mean by my "mistrusting the method" or whatever. I've grown a lot more tollerant lately, for things such as swami's, switches, billets, a lot of stuff which I had previously dismissed.

Can I ask, I am particularly interested in Symbolism, is it a 100% hit rate, or is it one of these things that uses genuine psychology. While I think psychological suggestion is good, I don't think I have the skill for stuff like that yet :P

its a mixture of the two for the cards that i have..but the percentage/hit rate will vary from person to person...

Anamania requires some memory work and math, but is pretty much 100%. I like it a lot.

Test Conditions is fantastic. It can be a good fifteen minute act, with more than six phases. It's not 100%.

I have Symbolism, but don't use it much - only tried it a couple of times. I'm not sure why this is my least favorite. I bought it in the package with Test Conditions and maybe because Test Conditions is so strong, I have dismissed Symbolism too quickly. I'll have to make myself use it some more.

I have to say that my favorite is Test Conditions, very psychological and really plays well. I also like Anamania a lot, but it feels a little like a "trick". It's still a nice effect.

The cards themselves are very nicely done and I carry them in my wallet (even Symbolism). They can be done one-on-one or in small groups. I reckon they can be adapted to stage, but I don't do that, so it's not an issue for me.

If money is an issue, then buy package 2, but you may like Symbolism and in the big package isn't that much more expensive.

I don't know the creator, Paul, but he's done a great job with these and has included nice notes with the effects. Oh, and the instructions are comprehensive and easy to understand.

I've heard vaguely good things about them, and now that you've pointed to the "package deal" page I've bought the lot. Thanks a bunch... I think I'll claim they're my birthday present.

Eshly, I think Iain was warning you about the overall use and feel of the effects rather than any specific method. Listening to the other comments here, you can't guarantee 100% success. Can you be content with that?

There's also always the question of whether you can make an effect fit in with your own persona. Which is something only you can answer.

There is no effect that I cannot fit to my persona, as my persona is an 'expert' in victorian psychics and mediums, and has learnt their tricks, such as metal bending.

However the sucsess rate worries me. Tell me if you like them Robbie

well, victorian psychics wouldnt bend metal, use book tests (apart from bibliomancy), or anything psychological...

so i don't really understand where you're coming from - BUT, its all up to you...find your own path and all that jazz...

if you do have a link to any victorian psychic stuff where they do bend coins and so on, i'd appreciate the link please...

*note - that is not sarcasm*

what spirit slates do you use?

I agree with Iain- he's being polite and trying to help you, just so you know.
And I also want to try and help, so I am not trying to offend you when I say it sounds a bit Derreny. It is good that your finding your own style- I have never seen Derren bend a spoon, or a coin (well, when he wasn't just a mentalist per se) or do a book test (apart from framing it as photoreading). But you still need to find a unique way of explaining it and there are other ways that Derren's. How about researching Uri Geller, James Randi (I was going to say russian psychics, but that seems a touch Derreny) e.t.c.

I have never ever met someone who didn't believe me when I told them that metel bending was an age old art, handed down from the victorians. For all I know it might be, I dunno, but its a good story and I'm convincing, thats all I care about.

The Victorian psychics thing is good, IMHO. But, why just Victorian? :)

Interesting train of thought: Whilst cutlery has been made for well over 1000 years, I'm wondering if the Victorians would have had disposable cutlery. Those with the cash and power would probably have the really expensive solid silver stuff and anyone bending some of it would probably be horsewhipped and hung whereas the poor would probably only have a few basic handed down items and if anyone bent those they'd probably be strangled!

Perhaps Taverns, Inns and Hotels would have cutlery to spare? Dunno really but it's worth thinking about... or not...

I'm still impressed that dunninger bent iron rods when on the radio...and shattered glass with the power of his mind...

eshly - you may want to read MindReach - by Puthoff and Targ, its the people who tried to test Uri when he first came over...
