I'm not ashamed to say that I worked on reshearch and development for those things (along with lots of other outdoor clothing/footware).
They were a concept item at the time and it was to demonstrate the technology in making sole units for flexible shoes, the theory being "wouldn't it be great if your feet had Vibram Soles" (not a plug)

I will be the first to admit they look ridiculus - I never thought they would be actualy made!!!

I think they're supposed to be good for your feet. Something about being anatomically like walking barefoot, but with the protection of a sole.

Since I *do* have chimpanzee-like feet, they'd probably be very uncomfortable on me. Or possibly very comfortable. But I'm not about to blow the budget on them to find out.

Anybody remember the fad in the '70s for toe socks? Long stripy socks with individual toes, each a different colour. I admit I had a pair, but in my defence I was young and they were a Christmas present.

I just wish the lads would just pull their trousers up. Most of them look like they've shat themselves

Give them 70 years and they'll have achieved the status of shatting themselves.

I agree. Do they think we like looking at their knickers?

I saw a young lad being chased out of a supermarket recently by a security guard (what is it with me and supermarkets?). He was wearing those silly trousers that belt up around the thighs, and trying to see the idiot run was hilarious. It reminded me of Charlie Chaplin on speed. Knees up, knees up!

What with him, the guy with the chimpanzee feet, and old "deck of smokes", I'm having a ball at my local supermarket. The Clash were wrong. I'm not lost, I'm having a great time!*

*In-joke for Clash fans.

Are you sure this is a supermarket you're going to and not a freak show?

Oh god when I was at the mall awhile back, I saw a group of teens who had their pants nearly down to their ankles. Even back in High School I never understood the idea of sagging your pants that low. It doesn't look stylish or "cool" it looks stupid. Nobody wants to see what your underwear looks like.

They did end up getting hassled by security, but it was because they were being loud and annoying.

I've always wondered why you can't get cited for indecent exposure for it. I mean they ARE exposing their knickers to everybody, and it's usually indecent.

Yeah, I will never understand this new "hip hop" trend of guys wearing their waistbands around their thighs. Why waste the oney on the jeans, surely it would just be the same as walking around in just the boxer shorts.

Now women showing off the bands of their thongs, I don't have too many issues with. Some, mostly pertaining to size of the thong, but not many.

I once saw a girl who was HUGE who dressed like that. After ward I felt like I needed to bleach out my eye balls. Even on girls it also looks unclassy and very trampy.

Very silly indeed. I have seen a couple of those guys ”trying“ to play basketball, having to hold their pants all the time with one hand and trying to manage the basketball with the other hand. Jumping up and scoring lead to massive exercise or pants falling down. The ”fashion“ (if you will) comes from USA:

The origins of sagging come from the United States prison system due to two primary factors.
First, uniforms issued to prisoners are usually a few sizes too large Secondly, belts are
sometimes prohibited to avoid suicide by hanging oneself, or to avoid being used as a weapon
    in fights.

This was then an indication outside the bars, that these guys had been in prison and that
you should not mess with them.

I read somewhere that it was an urban/ghetto thing. Having badly fitting trousers was a sign that your clothes were handed down from your older siblings.

They do look so silly don't they, I just get this urge to grab those trousers and pull them up. The last thing I want to see is some kid's knock off, market CKs.
