prediction rainman trick ideas needed

Postby Miniolo » Sep 15th, '10, 13:01

hello there me and my magic buddy are gonna do a stage show and decided to do rainman

the trick is no problem;)

but i wanna present the predictions nice;)

i know it is done with ehmm.... easels ;),
but its hard to get 6 of those ;) and im not gonna buy them for a 1 time show

so i need another way to display the predictions:

there only a few rules...

-the predictions have to be like a3- a2 format
-they have to be above the waist level (so the prediction cant stand on the floor)
-they have to be covered in the begin and easy to uncover one at the time

does any one have any ideas?

i had a few idea's

1 a washing line ?
2 big picture frames that can be putten on a long table
3 big picture frames on the wall
4 a assistand (female) with 6 shirts on every layer she undresses there will be a new revelation (she ends in lingerie) (L)
5 the easels
6 or i get 6 people out of the audience and use them to hold the predictions... but maybe the trick is too long for that
7 or 6 assistands...

any one with ideas:D please post them

I don't know the effect but are the 6 predictions revealed sequentially? What's wrong with one of you holding up an A3 sketch pad with each prediction written on subsequent sheets, allowing you to tear one off at a time. Or one easel/flipchart doing the same.

hmm let me tell something about the effect :D

the cards get shuffled etc after that the card even get shuffled face up face down into eachother

the spectator will count the amount of face up cards

u will know how many face up cards there are
how many reds
how many number cards
how many even
how many hearts
etc:P

hmm :P yeah heard that to yes;) but whe dont want one of us holding it because people will think whe change it

layman think whe can do impossible things like that hahaha i wish it was so easy:(

ehmm yeah 1 easel with a tear off pad
or a few foamboards on it and turning around 1 each time

Yeah I know an alarmingly similar effect, only 4 predictions though if I recall correctly.
I'd go for the easel and testify pad without a doubt. The easel is always likely to get reused.

Just a thought though, card effects on stage?

TV is different, cameras can get in close, audience in the back row can't.

Arkesus is absolutely right. Admittedly, the prediction reveals play big, but your audience isn't really invested in the work leading up to the reveals simply because they can't see what's going on. Unless they're jumbo sized cards, card effects - with a few exceptions (eg TOD, RADAR) - simply don't work on stage because they don't involve the audience in any capacity.

You say 'they' want card effects - are they the people booking you? You, presumably, know more about magic than they do. Tell them that they don't work - or if it's an absolute deal breaker, use a card effect proven to work on stage (TOD, RADAR).

I suspect the OP was referring to the effect having been previously seen on Dutch TV.

At least I hope so, if not, then yeah - what IAIN said.
