What's that gimmick called again??

Postby Nick_Andrews_Magician » Oct 7th, '08, 22:12

Hey everybody..

I purchased this a year or two ago, but it was burnt to a crisp when my TV exploded (don't ask) and started a fire, burning most of my magic DVDs.

In PSI 1, he does an effect where he uses a gimmicked notepad to switch a few numbers that were written down by spectators. I'm wondering if anyone remembers what that's called (I clean forgot) or... I remember that he also showed us a way to make a home-made notepad thing.

It would be really really really appreciated if someone who owns PSI 1 could check it out for me and then PM me about how to make the home made one? or just the name of the gimmick. It would be so incredible if someone could do that.

Thanks, Nick

Sorry, Nick, but you'll probably find that no one here will tell you how Banachek's version is made. We've had people turn up, claiming that some disaster befell a DVD, and could we just possibly tell them how the trick was done.

Of course, you might very well have owned, and lost, the DVD, but we've no way of knowing, and your very first post is to ask for some information on how an effect works (even though you are obviously familiar with the trick), which doesn't get things off to a good start.

For all we know, you just had the disc, thought you'd remember how to do the effects you liked, but now want to use this trick, but can't recall the detail.

There are, however, many marketed versions of pads that do the same job. Rather than give away too much information (your intial post is bordering on exposure, and I don't know which side of that border), I'll suggest that you do some research. Find a place that sells the DVDs online. Find the list of effects for disc 1. Then you should be able to work out the name of the effect, which is generic, not specific to Banachek's series. Do some research on that effect name, and you can buy a suitable pad.

Or, buy the disc again.

I've tried to be helpful, but I hope you'll understand that, for all we know, you have a brother who likes mentalism, and you sneaked a look at his DVD one time, and now fancy having a go yourself!
