Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

I do talk about the sail, since I think it's a very important part of the deals. Anyone can deal into a pile...

The sticky stuff is called Kwik Sort, not soft - it's meant for people who need to organise lots of paper.

I stand corrected.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Perhaps it is a little late to post this but for what it is worth I will post my tips on my favourite sleight!

1. I would say that you should not be afraid to necktie the deck (tilt it towards yourself). If you get a good rocking motion with the hand the deck is held in as you deal, the top card will be pulled back as your hand tilts up which hides the action.

2. I don't obsess over how small the brief is, Vernon said that when people claim "the brief needs to be tiny" that that was a myth put about by gamblers to discourage others from learning the move and I am inclined to agree. I use a fairly large brief and the deal works fine.

3. Half the battle is won with a good rhythm. your tops and seconds should be dealt at the same speed, don't speed up when you do a second just to get it out of the way and mask it.

4. A loose grip on the cards seems to work well, at least for me.

5. A good routine to use as practice for the second deal is "Call to the Colours" which can be found in "Card Magic for Amateurs and Professionals" by Bill Simon. The routine forces you to deal seconds in several patterns rather than deal say four or five consecutive seconds which helps you make it look more like your normal deal.

Hope some of that is of some use!
