I encourage you to grab a pocket notebook and pencil. Keep it on you at all times. Jot down your magic related ideas whenever they come to you, regardless of how silly or minor they may seem.

On page one of the notebook, start dreaming up effects that you would like to achieve that would loosely be based on the Svengali deck(s). Some like to learn a method and then come up with the effect. Others prefer to work the other way around by starting with the effect and working backwards. With this exercise you'll be combining the two. More importantly, you'll learn how to think for yourself (don't mean that rudely) and start the habit of using the pad.

Somewhere else in the notebook, start a list of items that the underlying L&S principle of the Svengali may be applied. You'll be surprised as to what you come up with and the effects that will be possible.

Card Magic USA has a nice hidden Sven effect. You might want to check out Britland's Bogus Effect, too.
