Reinserting a spectators card

Postby DaveM » Jan 25th, '11, 23:53

I'm a dab hand at the overhand shuffle and can also break and pass to get a card. I can make a card seem lost currently but I'm interested in learning other effective ways to reinsert a spectators card as I feel like I have limited options at present.

I'm looking for one that allow insertion into a dribbled deck or at least into the middle (such as Mike's Move).

Can anyone suggest some more methods for me to go investigate?

Much obliged! :)

Carry out an infinity crimp and you can cleanly and fairly square the pack, but locate the position of the card.....jusslikethat.

Cheers! Have you a book title for that, by chance?

I can't see it in Expert Card Technique, unless it has a different name?

Dave im sending you a PM, i think i may have what youre looking for. It will be short and to the point though as im on my phone, and for some odd reason it limits the amount of letters I can write in a PM :?

You can learn the Crimp in Peter Eldin's Pocket Book Of Magic. When I used to do card tricks I used it many times easily and without detection while the spectator believed they were putting their card back fairly and freely into the deck anywhere they liked without me knowing where.

I never remember the name of this one. Perhaps if I describe it without giving it away somebody will recognize it and be able to put a name to it.

Have the spectator pick a card, dribble through the cards let them say stop wherever they want. Have them place the card where they said stop and then toss the remaining cards on top of their card and square the deck in the process. NOTE: You can table the deck before you control the card to the top of the deck.

Looks great, they place the card and you have complete control a simple cut, or undercut, or pass will bring the card to the top.

Vernon's Tilt/ Depth Illusion, gives the very strong illiusion that a card is being paced in the middle of the deck. See Card College (Vol 3/ 4?).

One I use a lot is the one taught on Dave Forrest's The Trickery DVD within the effect Blind Lemon Aces.
It looks so fair and has never been questioned and is a great method of card control.

I use a short card. It's all personal preference really isn't it? I just find a short card the way that works best for me. short card on the bottom, charlier cut and insert card between the packets; leave it sticking out a bit so you can cleaning show the card being pushed into the [now middle, eh hem] of the deck

I have been learning DB's "3 card routine" so it is possible for me to use a short card. I do like being able to achieve everything unaided though so "Automatic j*g No 2" (as suggested by Jim and bmat sounds like a good option... ta both).

I'll investigate these too. The more options I have the better.
    - Vernon's Tilt/ Depth Illusion
    - Crimps
    - Ed Marlo's all round square up move
    - Blind Lemon Aces

    Thanks all!

You should have a short Queen Of Hearts in every deck
    I know I do.
