Upcoming 'mentalism' performance...

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

Does your aunt not attend her own parties?

Yes, but the people she has invited are mostly friends from work, who I don't know/have never met before

I found in preforming for many years now that if you want people to believe in what you are doing having a mistake made here and there can make things seem stronger. One thing I often do is get it wrong on the first try and keep going than I will stop mid routine to ponder back to my error and than tell them I would like to change that I see .... and thus it makes it look like you are probing the mind abut more.

Another thing if you are young most people will not precieve you as a true mentalist in most cases I found that age does make an affect on your audience. Following up with some other feats other than using just the ESP cards would help. I often if I have nothing else do a Magicians choice effect to predict an action and push them to it. Max Maven's Multiplicity by L&L Publishing is a good place to look for various ideas on this subject.

Hey,

Just thought I'd let you all know that today's mentalism performance at the party this evening went great!! Really freaked some people out. One of my most favourite reactions from tonight "OMFG, were you like, born psychic?!"

Kind regards,

Danny

I took everybody's advice and only performed a couple of effects, but more than once (for different people) I had a little routine which I did with people using ESP cards, and some good patter to go with it which talked about Clairvoyance, telepathy, and precognition, and for each of these three I did an effect demonstrating it.

My Next performance is on the 5th March, at a wedding with about a dozen people there; I'm performing on the night time. So gives me some time to practice some new effects.

Regards,

Danny
