Hi I have just got my Bongo hat for the 1st time I've had it for years as I was going to start doing kids magic but never got round to it and I am seriously giving it a go now.

I've figured out how you do it the only thing is I can't reset the bloody thing.

I was wondering if anyone could give the idots guide to reseting the Ali Bongo Hat plaease.

its easy. Just imagine you are making a paper boat, ot a paper hat. Lay it on a table, with the face towards you. fold up the front.
turn it over, fold that side up. you have a big triangle. Squeze the sides of the triangle together.. and you have a diamond. Fold up the bottom points.... triangle.. squeeze the sides... Diamond.. fold.. ect.
just remember Diamond Triangle.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Might I add, this is a great bit of business if used correctly. I who grew up in the magic business and have always been around magicians was traumatized by this effect. I was at a party and the magician that was hired new me of course. So he chose me as an assistant. Hat went on head and eventually all the kids were laughing at me because of the monster face. I'm not good at being the center of attention and already having a complex due to a learning disability this being laughed at didn't help.

I am in no way of saying don't use the effect as I've seen it done brilliantly, this particular magician was an *rse.

Perhaps somebody can give you a little guidence on how not to traumatize a child using this prop, (or plunger on head prop). I never perform for kids so I cannot really help in this matter.

Again I want to stress the ali bongo had is a great effect.

Yes. In all due lack of modesty I can claim to have the best routine in existence for this.

Ali Bongo Hat

Postby djadamhill » Feb 14th, '11, 22:33

Firstly big thanks to Dale - I had a part of it inside out so I was getting the right shape but not the pattern as he explained it I managed to figure it out.

The routine - my intention was either to use it as a magians hat for assistants making it larger with each helper until it is the monster - kind of a running gag effort.

Or secondly I was going to use it with hippty hop rabitts asking the assistant to check that there was nothing in the bag (it's got a holes in the top before you read the next bit) then puting the bag on the helpers head covering their face and then saying no monsters in there? pointing to the assistant and then taking the bag off and of course the helper has the monster face.

I'm not sure would be great to hear some suggestions.
