Anybody read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke? I was going to post this in the mentalist section, but thought it deserved a wider audience.
I have just finished reading the book (all one million or whatever pages of it!), and have found it has really inspired me in my mentalism and my approach to what is loosely called magic. Or rather it has reinforced my beliefs around magic & mentalism. The imagination is a great tool that we often underestimate.
If I had my way, anyone deciding to enter the world of mentalism should be forced to read this book first and then asked "Get it?"
I'm not sure of my point to be honest. It's late and I'm meandering. I may be lost in Fairie. It wouldn't be for the first time. There are no tricks in this book, but it is immersed in magic.
