Oh yes, a reading by someone who is well versed in the art would astound them, yet I feel the OP has little time to prepare or gain experience and just thinks he can scare people with an instant posession and a few off the peg magic tricks.

There are some people I know who jump from one genre to another without any coherence or even perfecting the individual elements: pro-kids entertainer, close up magician, stage illusionist, hypnotist, NLP spouting mentalist to psychic entertainer all from one minute to the next.

Having good props is part of the bizarre entertainers kit, but these generally come after you have mastered the fundamental basics of the genre rather than the props themselves being the means to an end.

This kind of thing requires great presentation above all else and confidence in yourself and the things you are speaking of. Someone who admits they are nervous about ti and expect to fail with an act they have knocked up in a couple of weeks is sure to end up being a laughing stock, though I doubt that will affect their ego as it will be the audtion panels fault for "not getting it" rather than theirs for being ill-preapred and adding little thought to what they are doing.

It astonishes me who people pick up different styles of perfomance and put them down again to grab hold of another one, claiming to be an expert in all along the way. It rather reminds me of a baby deciding which toy to play with...

To add to my previous suggestion of Wild Bill's Hand...maybe The Web by Jim Pace would be scarier?

I think that would fill your requirements better than anything bizarre...

Needless to say, both suggestions are instead of the possession idea, not things to do during it lol...
