Coin Index

Postby grant_m23 » Jul 12th, '11, 11:56

Hi - just wondering if anybody knows of any available form of Coin Index? Basically, the same idea as a pocket index for playing cards, but for coins (perhaps up to 20)?

I have a few ideas for one and routines - so might have to invent it.

Thanks,
G

Its not something that I've ever seen. To be honest. I wouldn't have thought it something like that would be too difficult to put together though.

In the book 'Impossibilia' John Bannon has an effect called 'Five star engraved prediction' which is like a combination of Al Koran's 'Five star prediction' and 'Golden Medallion'. This used a small coin index but the index only held four 'coins' (actually engraved brass discs)Though more than four could be used.

As far as I can remember there was no description of the index but a piece of card with slits in could could work with a small number of coins.

If you've got an index for a small number of coins, you could happily cope with more coins by keeping different indexes in different pockets.

At the end of John's description of the routine he has a note which mentions you could have the four discs in the corner of four different pockets instead of an index but Lady of Mystery is right, you could have four small indexes, each with five coins in four different pockets, this way you could get access to the right coin with very little fumbling (just as long as you don't mind the extra clutter in your pockets)
