TonyB, no, the material isn't original to Eddie but according to his website it states,

'Important: Eddie Burke purchased all rights to this effect from the originator in the 1960's, no one else has the rights to sell or reveal this secret to others. Please respect our proprietary.'

Isn't it best to stick with the originators method?

Eddie's stuff is normally of the highest quality. However the method in the booklet (unless I completely misread it) is different from the way most of us do the effect. It is less effective than the usual method. That is the reason I pointed out that it is not one of Eddie's effects. His own routines are top class.

I don't know who first ate a balloon. I do know that I had never seen it done when I spent an afternoon with another magician, Paddy Ward, and we worked out a method that worked well for us. Like a lot of things you will probably find it was invented and reinvented by several different people. It's not as if it is a particularly complicated effect.

The only real originality I can claim is that my routine is my own. And my method is not the one in the booklet Eddie sells. Tony

Fair enough Tony; I don't actually own the booklet, I was just going by what I read on the website :)

If I am performing a routine I like to open with a spectator rolling a dice to select an envelope which will decide what happens next. One says "be nice", or something like that, while all the others say "kill". Shamelessly ripped from diceman, I know, but if there is a method in mark wilsons, why not use it? This only a couple of seconds and gets people involved. Now that there has already been a magical moment I feel that people are more comfortable with me brandishing a colour changing knife (which I have changed the patter for to try and make more appropriate).

Just my 2p.

Tony,

Would you be so kind as to show me where I can buy a copy of your work? Thank you

mrzOmbie, Amazon seem to only stock the kindle version at the moment. However they have the old version, published a few years ago, which includes the full routine.
