Techno problem with magic video

Postby ultimatecreate » Jul 17th, '11, 19:08

Hey guys,

just picked myself up a panasonic HD video camera (HM-TA1) for filming magic...results are great but it comes with its own video editing software and I was really hoping to use movie maker to do all that (simply as im familar with it and it has some bits that the panasonic software cant / wont do).

Anyone know how i might convert the footage into something that will work with movie maker?

here is the spec (if it helps!):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-TA1-F ... 070&sr=8-1

thanks!

What format is it outputting? All signs point to MP4/h.264 AVC, which is an industry standard, so you should be able to import that

I wouldn't bother converting it to anything else. h.264 is one of the best formats for video

It sounds like a Windows problem. If you don't have access to a Mac then it is best of to download it into the Panasonic Editing Software that came with the camera and then save it as a format that you can then open in your preferred editing software rather than trying to download it straight into the incompatible editing software.

Your problem lies with windows movie maker (and media player). Neither of these bits of software are compatible with the format

As I said before, MP4/h.264 is one of the best video formats out there. Don't be converting them because you'll lose quality

I suggest you get another video editor. If you're willing to pay for it, Adobe Premiere is very good

its not the program, you just need the right codecs installed. go to www.free-codecs.com and download ffdshow to a folder, then double click it to run it, it installs automatically and this will give you HD video and sound codecs.

any problems let me know.
