Dell O'Dell Private Collection?

Postby bangschr » Jul 31st, '11, 03:55

Hi everyone!

For about 8 years now I have been carrying around my late grandfather's old magic stuff. It wasn't until a few days ago that I actually started going through it. As I was going through the first box I stumbled across a book owned by Dell O'Dell. The book is hardback and is a collection of different small magic novels. I say it was hers because it has her signature inside the frontcover aswell as the back along with many other signatures from other magicians. These signatures are from Tom Osborne, Max Holden, Jean Hugard, Jay Marshall, Solomon Stein, Charles H. Hopkins, and Dell O'Dell herself. These signatures are made out to her with personal notes. This book also contains a mint condition "Outs". This book looks like it was in her personal library and is in near perfect condition! I am not looking to sell it. I am just looking for any information on it that I can. I can provide pictures if need be. I would greatly appreciate any information that can be given.

To be honest with you, I'd shoot an eMail to Bill Palmer first of all, he would be my first best guess to know who might be available for you for appraisal. You may likewise send a note via the Magic Castle's contact, to Milt Larsen's attention, the Larsen's had a connection to Dale and I can't recall exactly what it was, other than it had to do with Gerry Larsen's shows and too, it may actually be Irene's first husband John Daniel, that had said ties (I honest can't remember, what I do remember is that we had several pieces of hers in the Kirkham collection, including an awesome Hat Box version of Confabulation I so regret not keeping hold of).

Mr. Tipton should be able to shine a bit of light on things as well, he's our resident historian after all.

I believe you can find Bill on the Cafe and Milt... just go the magic castle web site and send them an eMail requesting to speak with Milt (Mr. Larsen) about the Dell O'Dell materials.

Richard Kaufman is another one that may be able to help you a bit, he runs the Genii forum,

Start here by talking with Allen Tipton our resident historian.
