Actually Tom I like the idea of this one a lot. I do think it would routine very well, and would always great for that special effect for a couple that so often is needed.

I suspect I know the method, but I still think it would play perfectly in the right situations. If strolling or doing tables or even as part of a parlour or stage perfofrmance there would always be an abundance of people that this would work beautifully for.

Nice reveiw, and thanks for bringing it to our attention. (I will now wait patiently until it appears in one of your for sale threads  )

I've just checked this on eBay, and it looks exactly the same as what MagicBox.uk.com sell as "Locked for Life". I own it - it is good - I think this line of your review (and the description on eBay) is a little confusing...

"Using only your mind, you change the combination of lock, WITHOUT EVER TOUCHING IT"

When I read that, I thought that you were actually spinning the dials through "telekinesis"! Because that's a very odd way of presenting it... "now I'm going to mentally change the combination of the lock" - I'm fairly sure no one is going to believe that in any way, far better to make it a prediction, even if an "unspoken" one i.e. their year just happens to open it, what a mystery...!

I do like the added presentation on the eBay blurb of then locking it onto a baby somehow (!) and getting the parents to try the same year, failing, and being successful with their baby's year of birth.
The only thing I would add with this is it will increasingly not be useable on all couples, you will have to choose older or younger before you perform...!

Great response!

I used mine on the punters whilst working the doors last night, it got a great response. Works even better on drunken sods.
Maybe some of those soft sods out there are going to moan at me for saying "sods." I'm so harsh, lol.
Do you know that someone moaned at me for saying "ass?" and it's only an animal.

I am thinking of getting the 'Locked For Life' version from Magicbox.
I take it they'll have to have been married before 2000 though?
Can you change it to what you like?

Does anyone have any comments on audience reaction to this trick? The idea really appeals to me, but I can't help feeling (especially having watched the magicbox video demo) that it might just play as an 'amusing puzzle' rather than powerful magic.

You can change your patter if you think the couple married after 2000.

You can use this as a seriously astounding piece of magic, or use it as a comedy act. I've actually done both.
Someone did remark on the idea that I was changing the numbers to suit me, but I told them that I am not to know a certain date of birth etc.
Even if you have a clever clogs in the audience you can talk your way out with this cute trick.
I tell them that it is a mind lock.

I'm seriously interested in this. Without exposure, do you need to know the date in advance to set it?
Could they use any combination that starts with the same number and it will work is it specific?
Does it need to be set in front of them?

Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, but I like the sound of this and some presentation ideas are buzzing in my brain already.
