Big quick easy transformation effect

Postby TheStoner » Oct 2nd, '11, 21:08

I've been booked to do three hours of close-up at an event later this month. No problem as I do close-up all the time. However the organisers have now asked if I can also do one quick "big effect" at the start of the night. They are specifically after something with a "transformation" theme. It needs to be quick to perform, big enough to be visible to 100 people in the room (NB: flat floor, no stage), easy to learn (so I can perfect it in a few days) and not too expensive! Having not done this sort of big effect before I'm thinking that Ultimate Snowstorm might be the best bet, but I'd be very interested to hear other suggestions that fit the bill. Thanks.

Will you have a mic?

I'm thinking some sort of mentalism effect where you could stride through the crowd first. Visual - plus you gain a rapport by nodding at folk as you "mingle"

Unless you are willing to clean up (or what I do...bring someone else along to!) don;t do snowstorm. They won't be happy with the mess you leave!

I still say the torch-to-rose. I did that for over 100 people years back as you saw...and it's cheap, as I said that you could borrow mine!! :P

Yep - I may well do that. Was just interested to get some other ideas too...

I do lots of "close-up" mentalism but struggling to think of something that plays big and fits with the "transformation" theme. Basically the organisers want me to turn object A into object B, but they're not too bothered about what A and B are...

Shame you haven't got enough time to perfect Metamorphosis.
