Freddie's book is worth a read. Blackhart's easy tarot is another quick way of getting going. For shut eye books I like tarot plain and simple. I've gone back to this book a lot. I'm currently reading tarot step by step, which I reckon would be good for a beginner. Anything you can get your hands on though will improve your knowledge. But eventually you need to take the plunge. The night I did my first readings for strangers I learnt more in an hour than I had in the previous half a year. Freddie's books are probably good in encouraging you to get out and give it a go.

Both excellent books, the blackhart course lets you get up and running very quickly with an easy to learn system, which you can then replace (if you wish) piecemeal with either your own intuitive card meanings or the shut eye ones, Freddie's book gives some invaluble performance advice from someone with a great deal of experience of readings.
