OK. I'll put 'folders/portfolios etc' or something like that. I've just ordered Dean Dill's The Revelation, which is all self-contained within a folder, as far as I understand it.

Slimeline? Not Slimline?

Looks mega-useful actually. I'm sure you could stick some kind of index in there.

Kundalini Rising gimmick doesn't take much space

You almost forget it's there

Cool. The thing is though, if we include every item that doesn't take up much pocket space, the list would be hundreds of items long, if not thousands. I was thinking specifically of items that don't take up any additional pocket space whatsoever, as they directly replace something you'd already be carrying.

Also, items that are additional, but that are the kind of thing that people tend to carry around with them (e.g. a gimmicked Sharpie that doesn't actually write but it might sit in your pocket beside a regular Sharpie).

In a way, maybe I was thinking of that James Bond thing, a gadget that looks so innocent that if someone saw it, they'd think nothing of it. Yet, it has the power to frighten children and kill baddies and make the next door neighbour fall in love with you.

Not meaning to dis your suggestion though!

It's not my thing, but an iPhone or other smartphone can be used for various effects.

no I do see your point as it doesn't replace anything you would normally carry around with you

some people's mobile phones do magic things and I don't necessarily mean aps

Ted you got there just before me

I've seen a mob used for a note (money) print change effect - specs face on bill (pretty cool)

True. Though, the phone doesn't replace your existing phone as it IS your existing phone! Sorry to be a purist... Just trying to come up with a list of gimmicks rather than non-gimmicks.

No, but the apps you load on it co-exist with the standard ones and they don't add any weight (in the sense of noticeable weight gain - there is research available that suggests extra data does add a minute amount of weight :)). So the apps turn the phone into a gimmick.

I'm struggling to think of anything you haven't already included on your list

what about stooges?

I think if you buy the Criss Angel magic set you get an inflatable stooge

that could save some space

I'm sure the rope magicians among us could suggest a few ways to gimmick shoe laces.
Other items of clothing seem fair game. T*pp*ts, for example.

Good point. I'll add it to the list.

Not that I've heard of. They're kind of an expensive thing, and of course you need a prescription so it's not like someone could bring out a gimmicked pair of specs that anyone could wear. Sunglasses though maybe?

Glasses don't need gimmicks, but they do serve an important role in mentalism for getting the desired information.
