Alas, I was unavailable to make an appearance.

Blessings on thee, little man

Outward sunshine; Inward joy,
Blessings on thee, Barefoot Boy!

Thank you to all of you who have replied since I asked the question (which was a long while ago!). It has been great reading through and I thought I'd let all those people saying I need to perform more and let learning take the back seat know that I am joining a magic society soon and have made it a personal aim to concentrate on performance not learning tons more!

Although saying that the essential Dai Vernon collection looks irresistible...

Thanks again

buying new magic books often is irresistible, you do already have enough books to last you forever. Although I'm sure that your library will continue to grow, as indeed it should, but until you know specifically what sort of effects you like, and what sort fit your style then you are probably buying books which you may never use. Once you know what you like (specifically) then you can start buying the books that best suit your needs.
Also, you said you are going to let learning take the back seat and concentrate on performing. I'd like to point out that performing is where you truly start learning. You'll see what i mean after you've been performing for a while.
As long as you continue to enjoy magic, learning will never take a back seat to performance.
