Which note pad?

Postby artychris » Jan 15th, '12, 17:09

Hi,

I've been looking through the reviews here on various note pads, and they're all very informative. I've got some ideas as to which one I'm likely to get... but as there's so many knowledgable and experienced magicians and mentalists on here, I thought I'd ask for a little more information!

Specifically, after using one or more in the field, what have people been happiest with and why? What have you bought, and then replaced with another type? What gets used the most?

(And before anyone asks, what I'm personally looking for in one is a quick reset, relatively examinable and also natural looking... I guess ease or replacement pages would be a good thing. Also can it be used as a non-gimmicked pad else where in the act, to do drawing or word revelations? I'd imagine they all could but then that may stuff up anything else the pad is capable of... but as I said, for this post, I think the question is, what pad do you use the most?)

Cheers!

Chris

I only use Riggs because i think he is the best in the business. Great pads, easy to replace and a joy to use.

Tommy Pad - cheap and easy to make, examinable and effective.
I have one Riggs device and I really like it. But I wouldn't give it away after the show, though. You can, under normal circumstances, give away your Tommy Pads after an event without leaking the secret.
Why would you do this? You probably wouldn't, but it is an option.

Certainly some strong recommendations for the Riggs pads there!

I'm thinking the butterfly pad that he has. Just one more question though...

The Tommy pads are tempting me, partly because it sounds like I can make more of them! The Riggs pads seems amazing, the ONLY thing that is putting me off is this. Is it a product that once the pad is out of paper I have to buy a new one? Can the what-ever-it-is be transfered to another pad?

Sorry if this is a bit of a stupid quesion...

Anyway, I have a feeling that I'll be getting the Riggs pad whatever, from the strength of the recommendations, and also who they're from!

You can refill Riggs pads. You make your own, disposable Tommy pads. If you lose the latter it's no big deal.

Sorry for self advertising (not my style usually).
But regarding this question:

You can refill the ParaPad completely in less than 10 seconds.
It's even available at Ant Jacquin's Headhacking in the UK.

I'm not sure, but maybe Ant attends the Blackpool Convention in February so that you could take a look at the ParaPad and see whether it fits your needs.
Just an idea, ...

Mate,

when you're in Cologne you can contact us directly!
Rainer of ParaLabs lives near Cologne and attends at the carnival each and every year.

So drop him an email (mees@paralabs.org) and make a date with him!

Thats great!

I went to the Karnival last year and had a blast!

If work won't allow the leave, then Karnival this year is out, but next year I've already planned for!

One of my best friends lives there, so I go there relatively regularly. I will drop Rainer a line :)
