In the '7 Deceptions' book and 'Skull Duggery' DVD by Luke Jermay there is a method for stopping your own and a spectators pulse. In the book there is also a method for stopping your own heart.

Anything involving the health of a specator is risky - make sure you have a lot of liability insurance or, beter still, do something else which isn't so risky. Consider this: You might have a sure fire and safe method for achieving the result but if the spec crashes their car, collapses or is taken ill later on, even for other reasons, you'll get the blame first and foremost. In a court of law it'll be their word against yours and they may have litigation experts presenting the case - at a very high cost which you'll end up paying if you lose.

Did see Derren brown perform something like this before, involving walking on glass and a pulse reading etc. I am sure a few people on here know what I am talking about??

On 'Some Thing Wicked This Way Comes', he has 2 nurses in the crowd monitor his pulse and tap a drum with each beat they feel. It obviously slows to a stop and then in his "altered State" he is able to walk across the glass without feeling "pain". Goes down well with the audience.

Unfortunately, that method wouldn't work with an audience member. They'd need to be in on it.

I used to think I knew how this worked and I practised what I thought was the method everyone used, and then I read a practically self working pulse stopping method in Paul Zenon's street magic book and felt like something of a dafty. I doubt it'd work on a spectator though, they'd be able to tell what you were doing quite easily...

It's okay, I wasn't really offended, I just thought it was amusing.

I don't use this as I can't feel my heart anyway (maybe because I've got a brick on a string  ) but my none magic friend work the method out on his own and uses it alongside mt pulse stop sometimes to help me look even cooler 8)

And David Berglas used the 2 nurses idea long before Derren Brown
Also he did not use any gimmicks!
