But when you read the instructions it tells you how to use it in a totally original way that will amaze everyone! That's why you're paying for the secret, not the material itself.
i think caubeck has defined it quite distincly its not what you get its what handling you lern that is what you pay for.

you can levitate useing a bit of bees wax and a tree branch for free but thats not going to tell you how to amaze the spectators or how to disquise the tree branch, it wont tell you which tree branch type is best or how to extract the bees wax without getting stung.
with most tricks like melt for example what you get is tat but the acompaning routine's and handling instructions alow you to do an amazing vanish that dosn't look possible and leads you on to ideas of your own.

M5 and my credit cards

Postby Badger » Oct 7th, '05, 08:16

I was interested in buying an M5 - but I'm concerned about the stress factor. What sort of distance can it be from things like credit cards, digital storage, laptops before becoming a risk?

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Well I had mine in a jacket pocket and whilst driving it got stuck to my wallet in a trouser pocket, it was probably there for about 20 mins and did no harm to my cards. I think I might have been lucky though! I do find that when using it the stopwatch on my watch starts to jump forward and lose its zero setting.

Thanks for the reply. At least I can now rest easy about my credit cards. Has anyone used it near a laptop or desktop computer?

Also the Ellusionist site sells Mr Brad Christian's notes - or rather includes them in the super-dooper deal bundle M5 package. Does anybody know the quality of these notes and whether they provide a valuable insight into the successful use of the M5? Or is it just 'bumf'?

My opinion is that it is just bumf. There are a few reasonable ideas in there, but if you are in posession of a fully functioning brain equiped with an imagination (usually comes fitted as standard) you should have no real problems coming up with just as many good ideas yourself.

Ellusionist - M5 Forum

Postby Badger » Oct 8th, '05, 14:55

I suppose if I bought the M5 from Ellusionist, I would get access to the protected Forum. I have noticed has many many threads, over a 1000. So other than just getting the 17 page booklet by Brad Christian – maybe I’d also get a whole load of useful information in the Forums by the users.

Has anybody bought the M5 from Ellusionist – and if they have, did they find the M5 forum to be worthwhile?

It’s just that buying it from the states would ultimately be more expensive if I allow for Customs Tax and international shipping – but maybe worth it if the Forum is exceptionally good.

Any replies on this would be appreciated.

With any luck, Ellusionist will do like most other US suppliers and mark the package as a 'Gift' which tends to avoid Import Duty and VAT being charged. Not guaranteed but usually happens like that on things I've bought from that part of the world.

I wish that was true - but I've ordered quite alot of stuff from them and on 90% of the occassions I was stung with a Tax and Handling charge of around £30. I think they mark it up as 'educational material.'

That's bad news. I've ordered from several US sites in the past and usually make a swift phone call to place the order asking if they can mark the package in that way. Most of them said they already do that automatically. I'll need to make doubly sure in future!
