Call me a Derren Fanboy but I think this is geniune. Do we all think he's using stooges now. What would be the point in that after all this time?
Unless he commonly uses a stooge?
I don't know anymore :(

It's still arguable that he's not an actor or at least he's not acting here, and if it turns out he is, you've still got to give Derren credit for creating a 'found footage' genre show (a-la Blair witch, Cloverfield, Troll hunter) that some people will still believe is real.

I'm interested to see if I enjoy the second part as much now that I doubt the legitimacy.

Both, myself and Mrs Porcelain-Pound thoroughly enjoyed this latest show. I also would like to see the great man return to his roots in mentalism but this show was fascinating and be it staged or genuine it was certainly an entertaining piece of eletronical theatre.

I enjoyed it and will watch the second episode but I'm far from convinced it's what it's supposed to be. The guy woke up after supposedly many days 'asleep' (I think the convenient news broadcast in the room said the disaster was 14 days old by then) and wasn't hungry or thirsty, didn't need a shave... and although these mightn't have been his first thoughts they would surely have occurred to him at some point. He never asked the girl what she'd been living on. Never questioned anything - never questioned why if there'd been an asteroid collision big enough to warrant evacuating England there was no dust or clouds. Why wa sthe ambulance man there? How come the fence of messages was so small and yet what a coincidence that a message from his family was there. What were the odds of his family passing through that one site? And why Wales or Scotland? What would make those areas any safer than England? They might have chosen the guy because he wasn't the questioning kind but he must have pondered on something? To be honest I was rather hoping that he'd sort himself out a weapon and go after a zombie or two. Everyone knows you have to take a zombie's head off - would have made far better TV to see our man attacking a zombie and all the crew having to rush on to prevent a terrible mistake.

Still a fan of Derren's though!

Aspects of the novel of The Day of the Triffids are also referenced.

Not completely from scratch, no. It does look impossibly quick.

He should talk to Jacquin ;) I've hypnotised someone in less than 15 seconds!

After reading Derren's answers and what he has to say about the show, I must say that I'm convinced that it is legit.
Maybe I'm being completely manipulated and persuaded by him. (:

Like I said I really hope this is real and I don't think arguments like 'He wouldn't act like that, why didn't he question this?' etc are good points as it's saying you know how you would react in a situation you've never been in.

However I still hope he will answer questions specifically on the disappearing bottles and the reading festival those are the only parts that make me seriously doubt the legitimacy of the show.

Interesting links somewhat relevant to the show.

The filter bubble How the internet skews our perception of what's going on in the outside world.

Reality T.V how real world footage can be edited to tell a scripted story.

I thought the guy involved had already been robustly outed as an actor?

There was his mysteriously changing casting profile on the Spotlight website, and I'm certain that someone found a video of one of his old adverts (for microwave chips, or something?)

If anything I think he's proven that magicians are just as easily suckered as the patronisingly called lays.
If Dynamo had made this you'd all be laying into him for using an obvious actor.

Derren could have has Ewan Macgregor in it and some magicians would still say its genuine. Lol

So very true. But on the flip side, no matter who Derren picked, it could've been your best friend, you would've
still passionately posted multiple times on two forums and Facebook that he was an actor!
