If you're still searching and you fancy trying something out of the ordinary, this may interest you...

Several years ago, Greg Arce and Federico Luduenan released a really fresh and unusual approach to the book test: 'The Freestyle Book Test'. Using their system, you can not only reveal words on a page, but also doodles, names, numbers and notes from the margins. Best of all, you gaff the book yourself, so you can use any book you choose and the reveals can be as personal as you like.

Oh, and another amazing feature of this system - if you are proficient with a memorised deck, you have the cleanest possible way "in" - you can start revealing details from across the room without ever having touched the book (and there's no extra deck in your pocket, their card is merely thought-of).

I've only just started the process of marking up the book and it is quite a lengthy and involved process but when I'm done I'll have more than 10 possible hits per page. I'm also planning to gaff the cover for Corinda/Koran's "Word In Thousands". I'm quite excited about it, but as it's still a work in progress I've not road-tested it yet so can't offer any real-world feedback yet.

Funnily enough I spent yeaterday morning gimmicking a book al Koreans test. I'm not as handy with a craft knife as I thought so Ive pottery much butchered it. I may have to do another one! I've also got the Hoy test which I haven't had time to watch. Let me know if it passes a real world demo since it does sound pretty amazing. At that price I guess it ought to be. But as I've discovered in magic, price is no guarantee of excellence!
