The Effect

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gs1Eh9Mh6xc" target="_blank

Here's what they say:

Any small borrowed item such as a coin or ring instantly reappears wrapped in cloth, inside a nest of three leather wallets.

•Finest nest of wallets currently available.
•Beautifully produced by Alan Wong in top quality black leather.
•Includes instructional DVD with handling advice, basic and advanced routines.
•Use as a stand alone performance piece or as the perfect addition to any borrowed ring or signed coin routine you currently perform.
•Re-set the prop in front of the spectators.

Here are a few thoughts from some of Magic's biggest names.

"Minimum effort, maximum effect – Smart, sophisticated, elegant, powerful magic – brilliant!" - Wayne Dobson

"The best close-up trick I saw at F.I.S.M 2012 - I cant wait to start doing it!". Bill Herz

"A devilishly simple and baffling effect, highly recommended" - R.P.Wilson

"I saw Nick slay a group of laymen with his nest of wallets at dinner one night. This is real- world, commercial magic you will use!" - Chad Long

I am so delighted that you are releasing "The Deluxe Nest of Wallets". It really is a table top 'worker'. - Michael Vincent

Nick Einhorn is a F.I.S.M award winner, three time winner of The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year and is also one of only a few to have succeeded in fooling Penn & Teller on the ITV show FOOL US

Alan Wong has firmly established himself as one today’s leading manufacturers of quality magic props

Cost: £39.99

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

I'd say a 4. Admittedly this is no way uses an advanced sleight, BUT, you do need to be bold, use misdirection, and be able to confidently use a sleight right under someone's nose without panicking. If you can't pull that off, the effect will be ruined. So whilst the sleight isn't advanced, you need to be confident.

Review

This is really an old principle re-packaged. However, I would say that the quality of the prop is first rate. When it arrived I was highly impressed by the packaging so I knew I was in for a treat with the prop itself. The wallets are real leather and should last you a life time. The routine is ideal for table hopping - it's highly visual and can be reset in full view. Again this would require a certain element of misdirection (kind of? but only a little) and since your audience should be talking about how the hell you just did what you did, you should be ok.

This is an effect for a working magician. What I really mean is that you can't simply open this effect and make it work. You'll have to practice. The leather of the wallets is stiff as one would expect, so you'll need to invest a bit of time working the wallets to loosen up the leather and allow you to work smoothly with them. You'll need to work on handling, patter, misdirection and decent sleights. All of this means that 90% of people won't buy it. Of the 10% that do, only a small proportion will bother investing the time and effort to make it work seemlessly. That for me, makes it the perfect effect and I'm spending every minute of every day working on it.

The DVD is good quality. The tutoring is clear and a few different routines are offered. The four tricks in 20 seconds routine is an absolute killer.

This has everything I want out of a close up magic trick. It requires investment so most people won't bother to learn it, which automatically gives it excusivity. It's highly visual and will get great reactions. It packs small and it instantly-ish resets. You can use it on it's own, or as part of any other ring/coin routine.

As a final compliment to the effect, I showed it to the ever cynical, magic hating Mrs Kevmundo on her return from work. I asked her to remove her wedding ring and made it appear in the nest of wallets. She said, "that was good. I have absolutely no idea how you did that?" Rest assured that this is the most powerful endorsement of a magical product you can get!!!

I love it, I recommend you buy it!

Overall

9 out of 10. A must have for any working magician/serious hobbyist.

Great review, and looks like a very workable effect.

Performed flawlessly and with ease by Nick.

I would imagine Aza will be moving house shortly to one with far more rooms, to accommodate all these props that he aquires. :D

You won't regret this purchase mate! It definitely won't be one for the bottom drawer. It's going straight in my table hopping routine. You can also link it with ringflite type effects which I plan to do. I've made some awful buys this year, this isn't one of them!

I've been playing with it so much my fingers are sore (innuendo alert!!)

Looks very similar but with coins. How is to work with?? The nest of wallets is great - I'm actually finding it quite addictive!

I obviously don't want you to tip the method, but are you required to do a sleight and how easy is it to reset??

Do you think this can be used with a mercury-Folded card instead of a ring/ coin?

You'd have to make the card the size of a folded billet. You could forgo the cloth and the smallest wallet then it would probably work. So I guess you could do a mercury fold and produce it from inside two wallets instead of three.

I would've thought that a mystery box 2 would be easier to work with!
